The Residency

Between September and October 2018 Andrea Borghi completed a short residency at Lottozero. He had the chance to experiment with textile for the first time, and created discs the shape and size of a Lp with fabrics and yarns.

He played the reliefs of the textile surface with a modified turntable, and produced sounds with the use of special self-built styli and electronic treatments.

This research follows the path taken by the artist with Discomateria, resulting in playable sculptural objects realized with different materials such as glass, resin, metal or marble, which become the source for the production of sounds.

TISTRE

Tistre is the outcome of his first experimentation with textile support.

Andrea Borghi’s sound performance, playing “discs” made of yarns he created during the residency, took place on November 10th, during a 3-day event that marked the opening of the Lottozero textile laboratories.
After further developing the sound and its electronic effects, in 2019 the work was released on limited edition cassette for Dinzu Artefacts, record label from Los Angeles.
